Call for open innovation in steel pre-treatment: time for a fresh perspective

At Bjond Innovation, we don't believe in “the best material” or “the only right method.” The world isn’t that simple. The real gain is in understanding what a structure truly needs: what substrate, what loads, what lifespan, what risks? That’s where better steel pre-treatment begins.

That’s why we’re making this Call for Open Innovation in Steel Pre-treatment. Not to discard existing techniques without thought, but to honestly investigate what can be done smarter, cleaner, and more sustainably. Laser cleaning, for example. Less blasting material, less dust, fewer waste streams, and potentially a perfectly clean substrate. And if that substrate really is clean and verifiable, do we still need the same primers, cleanliness tests, and heavy process steps?
