Zeeland Bridge

Research on the longest bridge in the Netherlands, The Zeeland Bridge

Research into the (remaining) service life of the coating system on the pillars of the Zeeland Bridge.

Bjond is investigating, on behalf of the province of Zeeland, the condition and remaining service life of the coating system on the pillars of the Zeeland Bridge. This coating has served for more than 25 years as a protective layer for the concrete against the penetration of chlorides, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. To this end, Bjond is researching the technical and physical properties of the coating material as it currently exists on the bridge. This research should provide insight into what performance can still be expected from the current coating system. In addition, the research provides a basis for taking the most appropriate maintenance measures with the aim of extending the lifespan of this work of art, which has now become a monument.
